Felt United Community Rug

For Felt United the small town of Virginia City Montana decided to make a community rug to help raise money for a local non-profit.    It was a great project, the workshop ran from 9:00 to 4:00 on October 1st.  About 15 ladies worked on the project.  We felted like mad to finish this rug.  The piece was laid out on four 6' long tables joined together and once completed it was a little smaller than a piece of 4x8 plywood.  You can see that in the photos.  We are all so pleased with the outcome, a nice thick well felted rug!  Enjoy!

(The piece is still wet, it dried to true colors.)

This rug is now hung at the Elling House Arts and Humanities Center to be raffled off to raise money for that non-profit.  You can visit them at:  http://www.ellinghouse.org

Felt United

Getting ready for Felt United!  I have so enjoyed the last few years and thank Elis and Cynthia for all their hard work presenting felt to the world in such a user friendly way.  This year I decided it would be fun to make it a community felt day here in my little town.  All the wool has been ordered and dyed and the plan is to meet on Saturday, October 1st at the historic Elling House and build a creative community rug.  I am hoping for sunny weather!

OK - here I go again, hopefully this attempt at blogging will be more productive!

It's finally summer in Montana and I have be very busy getting ready for the Jackson Hole Art Fair. I am looking forward to the July event and just hope for continued great weather.

This is a photo of one of my footstools that I will be taking to the show. It is felted with 100% Gotland, I love the strength of Gotland wool.
